"Bare Back"

6 x 6"

oil on masonite

sold

Of all the hundreds of photographs I came home with - some stand out immediately and I'm anxious to paint those first. This young lady is one of those. There is an awkward elegance about her, mostly, it's the strong light on her bare back that is striking to me.

I like how the light on her back and the frame behind her tie together.

Your description of her is perfect, and so is the painting.

I have a question to ask regarding the size of your paintings. I recently cut up a large board and enjoy painting the 6 X 6 size, but am having a very difficult time finding frames. Do you have any idea where I could order some online? Otherwise, I may switch to 5 x 7.

Keep up the great work.

Bill - I don't know a source for square frames. I'm pretty sure they would have to be custom made.

Great composition and use of lighting enhansed by strong brushwork. And only 5"x5". It really is true what they say - size doesn't matter. You made a powerful statement in a small space. Nice Work!

Bill Brauker asked about finding 6"x6" frames. I was in a A.C.Moore Art Supply store today and they hade 5x5" and 6x6" ready made unfinnished open back wood frames for a reasonable price. I think you can shop A.C. Moore online if there isn't one near you.
