"Them & Their Shadow"

6 x 6"

I am obsessed with shadows - mostly trying to understand them. Meaning if shade falls on a certain color, what color does it become ..... things like that. From the corner of 7th Street & Pennsylvania Avenue, in Washington, DC.

Just awesome Karen, and I'm talking all your paintings. I stumbled onto this whole blog thing by accident, as I'm not that computer savy. Your work is very inspiring to say the least. I look forward to your post every day!

This is a beauty, Karin. Speaking of how shadows appear...

Have you ever noticed how "red" they get when you're viewing them while in direct sunlight? Just the result of the sunlight hitting your eyeball. But it can really change their appearance from cold to warm and then cold again if you move back into shadow.

Karin,
I have always loved your shadows! I too am always thinking about them when I paint and searching other artist's work to see what they do. Please pass any words of wisdom and advice!

I'm struck by the warm golden tones in your paintings. Your paintings just feel so good to me. Thank you for putting your work "out there". You inspire me every day.

Awesome - I love the reds outlining the legs.

Love the idea of using peoples' "bottom halves" as a subject, Karin. This is the first time I've looked at your work and I'm really impressed with your use of strong design and bold colour. Particularly liked "Red Carpet".

Your exploration of shadows has been something I've noticed for awhile!
You seem to have found some interesting answers! :)

I think I see a theme happening here--some sort of Voice of the Voter or democratic process thread? I agree with you about D.C. and I can't wait to get back myself. Another great batch of work! Best wishes
