International Artist Magazine Competition

I really had to see it to believe it - and today, the new issue of International Artist arrived in my stack of mail. Wow. Gulp. I'm officially a "Finalist" in the competition for "People & Figures", my painting "Strictly Pedestrian" was chosen as one of the featured pieces in the Dec/Jan issue. How cool is that?

If you don't have a copy handy, you can see the winners on their website by clicking on 'art competitions' on the left column, find the link 'past winners in all categories' then choose 'challenge 42' in the scroll bar. If you'd like a larger view of my painting, click here to go to my website page.

Karin,

Congratulations! May I say also, as a long-standing New Yorker, wow did you ever capture it for Times Square and how it feels! This is a superb painting.
Notwithstanding that I am inspired by every painting you do, I congratulate you also just on the level of how much this scene and how you painted it brings me overwhelming joy in how I respond. I wish it were not already sold! How about considering some giclees?

Karin,

P.S., forgot to add, I got that it was Times Square even
before I looked at the description on your web page!

Karin,
Awesome news. I've entered their competitions before but have never won. That's amazing out of the hundreds or maybe even thousands of entries they get.
Well done!

I feel like I'm doing this to you again...

I was at the book store yesterday and bought the November 2007 issue of the American art Collector. While flipping through it I noticed your painting, "A Grey Area". It was being used to advertise the 17th annual Small Works Show. I'd tell you what page but I can't find a silly page number. It's in a section called Upcoming Shows State by State and it's on the last page of that segment. There's a Gloria Gaddis add on the next page.

If you don't have a copy you'd better hurry and get one. The December issues will be out shortly.

congratuations!

You have captured that urban morning moment so well that you deserved this success. I liked this as much as I like your single figure small paintings. I love the light shining on the street.
Thanks for posting.

Hi Karin,
I love your style and brush strokes! I noticed you use the same brush to get those beautiful strokes, and merely vary the width by turning the brush. Brilliant!
Would you mind sharing the type of brush you use?
Thanks..love your work

Hi Karin,
Congrats! I had a painting featured in the book published in 2004 on the 100 Ways to Paint People and Figures by International Artist.
Nice painting as always!
