"100 Faces, No. 57"

4 x 4"
oil on masonite
sold

An excellent subject to paint ..... and yes, I'm coming back to life. Anything I've attempted to paint this past week, other than the faces, has been a failure. When I don't feel good, I force it. End up with something too picky, too detailed. There's no fun in that.

Karin,
Each or your "Faces" is like a lesson on the use of color in portraits. Thankyou.

So great to hear you struggle sometimes. Hard to believe with your talent.
Still amazing that these powerful paintings are done on 4 X 4"!

I love your comment that too picky + too detailed = no fun. I've been trying to tell myself to loosen up with my paintings all month. You painterly style is an inspiration. Love these portraits!

You have the look of a Lucian Freud in this. Maybe it's the model or the limited palette. Very powerful.
