American Artist Self Portrait Competition

Back in February, I entered my painting in American Artist Magazine's Self-Portrait Competition - and I got word yesterday, from the managing editor that I was chosen as a finalist. The article and the winning entries will be published in the October issue. How cool is that?

Update ~ I did not make the final cut after all, but looking at the work that did, I can only be extremely proud that I was considered in the final round.

First of all I have not been on my computer lately and in catching up I saw that Jack had a bad report. I am keeping him in my prayers.
Your self-portrait is wonderful. You really are so talented.

Great news Karin! You should be proud as there is a lot of competition there. My entry didn't fair quite so well.;) They are going to critique one of my paintings though.

Good luck!

Karin, When you first posted this self-portrait a few months ago, I had chills up my spine, it was that good! And I immediately thought to myself, she should enter this in the Smithsonsian's National Portrait Gallery Portrait Competition. Please consider doing so, and of course, congratulations on becoming a finalist of the American Artist Magazine's competition. I am so happy for you! Good luck!

Beautiful Karin...congrats on becoming a finalist in the American Artist Competition!!!
LOVE your painting style...I am mostly a palette knife painter (or enjoy that method the most) and also entered - will keep on trying.
I like Carol Marine's work also and follow you both along with Justin C. of the Daily Painters. My web site is www.lisazook.com if you wish to take a look...I work full time so I am only able to get one painting completed per every week to two weeks (right now) and have 2 galleries representing me in the Michigan, Ohio area. - Lisa
