I made up this 2014 Wall Calendar for kicks really - a gift to friends and family. It's pretty cool so I thought I'd sell them and in memory of my dad, Johnny, donate the proceeds to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home, a cancer hospice here in Atlanta.
You can preview each month's images here - I picked some of my personal favorite paintings that have the feeling of each month. It's fun and colorful and beats the boring calendar that your insurance agent gives you at the end of the year.
update ~ the first batch of calendars sold out quickly, more are on the way. I'll be sure to post an announcement when they arrive. Thanks to all.
A new addition to my ongoing series BUST-ED, paintings inspired from mugshots.
I honestly did not think I could pull off the hair on this young man, which is why I considered this portrait a big challenge. It took some patience and experimenting with old brushes and a palette knife. I love the end result, which is more evident in the real painting than the image - it has some wonderful texture.
One more for the upcoming Small Works Show at the Anne Irwin Fine Art Gallery - opening the 22nd. From the Art Institute of Chicago, a woman examining Georgia O'Keeffe's 'Black Cross, New Mexico" - a painting that stops me in my tracks every time.
This new painting will be included in the upcoming Small Works Show at the Anne Irwin Fine Art Gallery in Atlanta - opening November 22nd. This young woman is connecting with John Singer Sargent's 'Lady with a Rose (Charlotte Louise Burckhardt)' which hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City.
I am very proud to be featured in the full-page ad in the Atlanta magazine Simply Buckhead, promoting the show. Please come to the opening if you can, there's over 200 pieces showcased.
"You should keep on painting no matter how difficult it is, because this is all part of experience, and the more experience you have, the better it is... unless it kills you, and then you know you have gone too far." ~ Alice Neel

"It's what you carry to an object that counts." - Andrew Wyeth

"When I'm old and gray, I want to have a house by the sea. And paint. With a lot of wonderful chums, good music, and booze around. And a damn good kitchen to cook in."
