As far as the workshop goes I felt the same way about the time and expense of going to Hilton Head. it was worth it and so much more. The value of the event is so much more than monetary. It IS an invaluable investment.
Karin - that's another of those great paintings that just blow me away. And of course it reminds me of our week at the beach...
AND ... I just have to chime in and urge everybody to really consider the investment as Karin said. It's so much more than just painting a few hours a day. It's sharing your passion, getting to meet great people in an amazing place - and one of the most generous and lovely teacher you can imagine! Seriously!
I'd like to chime in about taking Karin's workshop as well. Besides being a very sweet and genuine person (with a great sense of humor!) you really have to view Karin's workshop as an investment. Art is a business, and in order to grow your business, growing your ability is very important. Karin provided some wonderful art and business of art insights that really clicked with me.
I attended Karin's NYC workshop last spring, which was definitely a big "investment" for me. Going so far away was quite the stretch, but I really felt like it was worth it.
During the workshop I didn't like my paintings so much, because I was pushing myself in uncomfortable directions. But I continued with the lessons after the workshop, and things suddenly clicked. My art really shot past the plateau that I had felt it was hitting. Not only that, but I have literally thousands of wonderful images from NYC that I can use as photo references for the future. I can't make the SF workshop this year due to timing, but if I could, I would, just to get the photos!
Karin's Hilton Head workshop 2011, changed my painting life. Karin gets in your head, somehow deletes your painting inhibitions, and excuses, and inspires the I can do this attitude. I love painting more than ever before, created a blog, and became one of the notorious Hilton Head gang, a great group of painters, that I proudly call my friends. Thank you Karin. If anyone is on the fence about taking a workshop with Karin, don't hesitate, do it for you.
Just what I needed....a feeling of the beach! Thank you! I haven't gotten to any of Karin's workshops yet, but I hope to. Workshops are an investment, and such a great time to get together with other aritsts, and learn from wonderful teachers.
When we are in the middle of winter, its seems like warmer days are a million miles away. Thanks for the little glimpse of summer.
Re: Karin's workshop. Attending Karin's workshop are more than the pictures you will click. The intangible lessons I learned are incredible. I'm sure for each person it will be a different lesson, but Karin taught me to forget the rules and paint from my intuition. I bet you didn't know that Karin.
