"Boat People"

5 x 7"
oil on masonite

A new addition to my ongoing series ATL to NYC & Back - a group of students riding on a chartered boat down the East River. Of course I just l-u-r-v-e the shadows.

Wow, I love the interesting shapes in this one. Of course, the composition, the colors, and the shadows are great too!

WOW! I love so much about this painting! It's so unusual to see full on faces on your figures, let alone three, plus the guy in shadows! There's an N.C.Wyeth (my hero) quality in these fabulous figures. Also the juxtaposition of strong geometric shapes sandwiching these beautiful people adds great interest, not to mention those shadows! Wonderful!

Very dramatic. You have a trained eye to see the potential in that shot.

You've managed to combine a shimmering softness in the three boys with an edgy graphic value range and great composition. Really wonderful.

You seem to be on a roll. Or in the flow. Or both. Whatever... good for us!
Again a great painting, and of course the shadows are great, but I really love the guy in the shadow.
