"Early Birds"

8 x 10"
oil on masonite

I was up at the crack of dawn this morning - wanting to finish up this painting before the heat was on. These two were spotted at an air show at the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport - they claimed their prime viewing spot early. About 3 hours early, which tickled me.

"Mellow"

10 x 8"

I'm gonna tell you, painting this was my moment of Zen. Getting ready for my trip to Seattle this week - framing and packaging and shipping over 15 paintings - finding something to wear that doesn't have paint on it - I was in great need of mellowing out, not even thinking this would be perfect for the letter M in my alphabet series. It's a bit larger than the usual, 8 x 10", I wanted more empty area around her.

An additional note....... the entire body of work, for my show opening this coming Saturday night, can now be viewed on my website and on YouTube. Hope you enjoy them.

"Time Zone"

12 x 12"

This painting will be included in the February show at Howard/Mandville Gallery - I just framed it today and it looks so handsome. When I get to this stage, seeing all the paintings varnished and framed - I am honestly taken back. All the work seems worth it when you see the pieces grouped together. I'm proud.

When I look at this painting, I know the pleasure of setting aside that 'me-time', finding a place where no one knows me and escaping into books and magazines. It's what we all love to do.

This is also the painting featured in the current issue of American Art Collector - which I still haven't seen for myself. For a larger view, please click here.

"This Better Be Good"

6 x 6"

My painting time has been short lately - I'm working on getting a bad knee healthy again.

This new painting is taken from a restaurant in Asheville called the Tupelo Honey Cafe - a girl sitting patiently for what was promised to be a good breakfast.

I want to wish everyone a fun holiday weekend - I'm hoping to take some time off and go to a local arts festival, eat hotdogs and apple pie and swim in my neighbor's pool. What a perfect plan.

I got a little painting in this afternoon - a young woman reading in a big chair in a Starbucks. I even made up a short movie of the process of painting this little piece - click here if you'd like to see it.

I've had a long, pleasant day of painting - just finished up this new piece which will be included in my July show titled "The People I See". These three friends were chatting it up inside a Starbucks, on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

This was one of those moments when I saw the finished painting in my head. I was waiting on a guest, in the hotel's lobby, and spotted this young woman nestled in a big chair in the corner, getting in some good reading time.

This painting is available for purchase through the Cohen-Rese Gallery. Please click on the title to forward to a larger image and contact information.
