"Tree"

6 x 6"
oil on masonite

Okay........ this is a hard subject to paint. Yikes. I'm one to break for trees. I am in awe of them, especially isolated in a field, as if it owns the property. This mighty oak was spotted on a drive west of Austin. A Texas tree.

Hi Karen:

Loved both of the paintings you posted today. You really captured the "might" oak tree. We have some awesome trees around Austin and the Hill Country.

It's about time I send you a note - I've been a fan for the last five months. You have a truly unique style and deserve the recent recognition in Southwest! Your "people" are so alive and familiar and so expressive in their gestures. Although I love the way you are a master of color, I also think "umber" is a very successful and moody piece. I can see why you don't want to part with this "child" of yours.
I discovered you on the Daily Paintworks Site along with all the other great artists there. You all have been such an inspiration to me these last few months as I've jumped back into painting after a too long hiatus. You are a favorite link on my site so I visit often.
I chose this older post to leave my comment because I just yesterday posted a painting of one of my favorite oaks here in Atlanta - you may have seen it if you are ever over my way in Tucker. I hope to meet you someday soon.

The continued best to you,
Marilyn King
