"Twilights"

New in my series ATL to NYC & Back - on the first evening in our home-away-from-home, a stunning view from our own rooftop terrace. We stayed in the Upper West Side, around 93rd and Broadway - surrounded by towering apartment buildings. The rain turned into a mist, I stood transfixed at this view, noticing the different lighting in each and every window - certainly an inspiration for any artist. Just beautiful.

I love how you painted the individual windows; I'm so glad you didn't make them all the same spots of light. Every single one tells a different story. That's not voyeurism; it's vindowism!

Oh, Karin, that's the most beautiful thing. Don't you sometimes have a hard time letting go of these paintings?

Karen, you make the painting seem so easy and yet achieve such complexity. The contrast of the rich, warm, diverse buildings against that deep, smooth sky is, well, monumental and certainly accentuates the "twilight" of the windows. It is all so beautiful.

I adore the detail of the windows and how you captured the sleepy city.
