"Mass Transit"

6 x 6"

There's no place like New York City when it comes to the massive amounts of people on the sidewalks and streets. Put yourself around Grand Central Terminal and you're likely to get run over by the hordes of commuters - this was at the crosswalk on 42nd Street & Madison Avenue, an addition to my series ATL to NYC & Back.

Les couleurs se mêlent, créent le mouvement...la lumière s'infiltre là où elle peut... C'est le "vite-vite-vite" de la vie.
Belle peinture de conscience.
gros bisous

Do you take a photo of the whole scene and then crop out what you want to paint or do you only take a picture of the lower part? Is this a dumb question? :^)I guess my question is are you able to discern the finished painting before you take the shot?

I figured out a long time ago to just keep shooting and not focus on the painting or composition I want. There really isn't time when you're out in the world of movement. So, yes, I dig deep into the photos later on and find the gist of what I want.

What a powerful composition and execution! The triangular shape of the front, the greys and darks, the sense of movement make it an amazing active scene. Makes me want to get out of the way to let them through.
