"Charleston Dusk"

5 x 7"
oil on masonite
sold

Maybe it was the big breakfast. Maybe the five cups of coffee. I had the most productive, wonderful day of painting today. Not one, not two, but three paintings were done. And they're all loose, expressive and yummy. I cannot show you the other two yet - they're gifts. This is one of those days when I finish up, thinking this is what oils are meant for. I love that. While I'm on the subject - I recently tried out a brand I hadn't bought before - Williamsburg oil paints. They're wonderful. I want to be their spokeswoman.

This little piece is a street in the charming city of Charleston, South Carolina. The city of steeples.

I absolutely LOVE this. And the way the rooftops and tree edges and the golden horizon all look like they're vibrating -- I can almost hear the buzz of it -- LOVE it!! Congrats on your great day of painting :D

Oil painting is certainly something that you are meant for. Beautiful work.

Nice Karin!
I love that bit of light on the parked cars.
I'll check out the paints. I use mostly Gamblin and am pretty happy with them, but am always open.
Looks like you ARE their spokeswoman!

Cheers!

FIVE cups of coffee? Holy cow. My record is three. I've done two paintings in a day once, but not three... It's something to shoot for.

Lovely stuff, as always.

Williamsburg is a Brooklyn-based handmade oil paint.
I have a color from them I like called Cobalt Teal Deep.

Love that kiss of sunset in the sky. Would you attribute the looseness to not focusing on one piece too much? I hope you become a spokesperson for your newly discovered paint brand!

Karin...your work is incredible! I also want to thank you for the demo you did on the NY street scene with Dustin Hoffman awhile back...it was so neat to watch. My reason for commenting on this particular painting is that I live in Charleston and was wondering if you ever thought of coming here to do a workshop?!! I am a novice painter, and between work and kids, find it almost impossible to go out of town. If you ever do want to come to Charleston for a workshop, I'd be happy to help coordinate and I want to be the first to sign up! Thanks for sharing your amazing talent!
