Early this year, I tore out a page in a magazine that announced open submissions for the Greenwich Workshop Gallery's Annual Miniature Show. I thought it would be a long shot, to be accepted, but I've mustered up the courage to at least try - so I just entered this new piece for their consideration. Cross your fingers - I won't know until the end of September.
For those who don't know the Greenwich Workshop Gallery, they represent some of the top-notch painters in the country. As a picture framer, I drool over the giclees my customers bring in from that gallery. So you see why it's a long shot - but heck, why not try?
This scene is a young lady tucked away in the side garden of the Art Institute of Chicago.

It is so amazing to hear you expressing any doubts about your work being accepted. This is such a wonderful painting with its jewel-like colors and fabulous composition and the warmth of summer shining through.
hmmmm...I really don't think it's such a long shot Karin. This is really lovely, I love how it just glows and brings us into this moment in the garden. Good Luck!
I agree with Jana. How is it that an artist of your caliber can feel she is not up to par for any given exhibition or competition! Your work is excellent.

Pretty painting. Just out of curiosity, how did you select this one as opposed to, say, one of the museum pieces that are perhaps more representaive of your current work?
To answer that question - I can't say I selected it specifically for this venue. It's what I painted that day and I guess it felt right.
