The Hilton Head Gang Mugshots

4 x 4"
oil on masonite

"On October 31st, 2011, disaster struck the tiny island of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Twenty-one notorious characters descended upon Hilton Head and went wild shooting everything in sight.

The purpose of this challenge is to reveal the identities of the Hilton Head Gang by painting their portraits. The first mug to be painted is the leader of this notorious gang - Karin 'Quickdraw' Jurick (that would be me). Karin can visit a beach and shoot everyone in sight before they even know she is there. Her covert activity is known worldwide."

~ Maria Hock, artist and member of the Hilton Head Gang

Those who joined me in my recent workshop will be participating weekly, please click here to see their paintings.

Wonderful - but I wouldn't want to come across you now in a dark alley... ;-)

When I realised you already posted your 'self-mugshot' I had to give it a go as well. It's late at night here, I didn't even look to closely at mine, it's done and posted now. But it definitely was fun painting it!

OH NO!! What is a gang member to do? Since our leader has decided to become public there will be issues during our covert photographing trips .... YIKES! Everyone will see our cameras ... everyone will know they will be in a painting (a wonderful painting, for sure!) ... everyone will pose. The only solution is to join in and just accept the inevitable. Mug shots to follow beginning with Quickdraw Karin, the leader of the Hilton Head Gang.

Karin, after doing so many mug shots, it must have been weird to finally do your own. I love it!

Karin, I followed the link from Linda Popple back to you here and realized my earlier comment was incorrect. I somehow thought Maria had painted this "mug" of you! I should have known your brushwork:) This painting is amazing and just love it! Y'all are having too much fun and love seeing all the mugs of you- Can't wait to see more!
