"We Still Have Paris"

12 x 12"
oil on masonite
sold

Several months ago, I accepted an invitation to be a part of a Summer Collection Show, created by the Morris & Whiteside Galleries, located in Hilton Head, South Carolina. It was an offer I couldn't refuse - their gallery reps some of my favorite painters - Steven Scott Young, Michelle Torez, Kim English, Dan McCaw, Milt Kobayashi, Joseph Lorusso, Ken Auster to name a few. I cannot express how proud I am to be hung on the same wall with those artists whom I've admired for so long.

This painting was featured in their beautiful catalog - and I'm proud to say it sold shortly after the catalog landed in the mailboxes of the gallery's collectors. Done from a recent trip to Chicago, it portrays a young couple in front of Caillebotte's enormous and famous painting 'Rainy Day, Paris Street'.

This is wonderful Karin. I love the way the girl is standing and the painting in the background just makes it.

I saw this one in your ad in american Art collector.
The girls pose is great. I went looking for this image Wednesday, in your files and couldn't find it. You were holding back! Or I might have just missed it. :)

I have been holding back Mark. I want to know how people, who may have never seen my work before, would react. If they would notice my paintings among all these other well-known artists. It's a different type of exposure - I'm excited to see the results. I'll post those paintings on my site very soon.

Great composition, Karin! I love the girl's stance, the way her pants echo the shape of the building on the corner and counter the gentleman's stride...the reflections on the floor and the wet street... Just wonderful. And on a square canvas!!

Ah. Beautiful. The huge shoes on the young man and the small sandals she's wearing- great. I even think there's a mirroring of the posture of the young man with the main male character in painting he's viewing. I can see why this painting was bought immediiately. Congratulations on the great show!

That must be really great feeling - selling in a gallery you admire, in the middle of artists you admire.

I'm loving, as always, your reproduction of a very famous painting and the way you connect it to the people in the foreground - this time I noticed repetition of triangular shapes. In thumbnail they almost look like they're part of the scene.

Wow, I love how you captured the Caillebotte painting and then the mannerisms of the modern couple viewing the painting.

Congratulations on the sale before the show opens and also in showing along side other accomplished artists!
