"Big Sister"

12 x 9"
oil on masonite
sold

A new piece....... visitors in the National Gallery of Art, in Washington, DC - viewing Nicholas de Largillierre's portrait of 'Elizabeth Throckmorton, Canoness of the Order of the Dames Augustines Anglaises'. Quite the title. The referenced photograph was taken by Dennis Roth, who has several books for sale on Blurb - thank you Dennis.

Speaking on books, my good friend, Neil Hollingsworth has created a beautiful book of his own work - I can't wait to get a copy for myself. Well done Neil.

This is a great subject to paint. Paintings of people looking at paintings. Love it!

Your painting of the painting is especially gorgeous this time from her beautiful face to the elaborate frame.

I like how the lady observer's hair echos the gown of the nun. They almost merge together. Fun painting!
