"What Happens Next"

You may recognize this man reading the paper - I had painted a small, daily piece of this scene. Going larger, I included more of the surroundings, which makes us wonder what happens next? Either it's turning the page or perhaps the two strike up a conversation.

This new painting will be included in the February show at the Howard/Mandville Gallery.

  1. Karin, Your paintings are breath taking. The detail in the 'repro' museum paintings is just insane and the flow of color and design is masterful.
Any chance you'd like to teach a workshop in New England sometime?

  2. Hi Karin,

I think one of the most compelling features of this painting, is the concealed identity of the individual behind the paper.
As a painting device, the imposed "barrier" cleverly heightens the curiosity of the viewer !

  4. I love the title! The what happens next narrative makes me want to linger. Not to mention, very well painted as always.

  7. I love this little painting. It makes me smile every time I see it . . . only problem is that someone beat me to it.
