As I walked around the Upper East Side, looking for lunch, I spotted this gentleman outside, waiting for the bustle to begin. This painting will be included in my ongoing series ATL to NYC & Back
Forget Mr. Cool- not my type:)- I am Loving the second focal point- Mr. Kick "S" Chef in the background! He is way fabulous!! Amazing how he keeps you right there in the painting!! Magic once again! How do you know or think of things like that? Instinct?
Hmm... dangerous painting: you caught Mr Cool - cover name John Smith - in action. He's a top notch FIB special agent in middle of a black ops surveillance mission. Keeping in contact with the higher-ups through his wrist-watch microphone.... Cool painting indeed!
I LOVE "Mr. Cool" -- Love how you rendered the white shirt against the white tablecloth! I especially like what is going on in the background, and the beautiful glow you've created. I see this as the beginning of your chef series, Karin!
Love the composition; the vertical drape behind him and the line of glasses that lead you off to the right. Is this painted with a red ground instead of your usual black?
He IS cool Karin. Love all the red you left around the canvas.
ReplyDeletenice work Karin.
ReplyDeleteUne très belle composition... j'aime son atmosphère...

ReplyDeleteI did paint it on a bright red ground. It's not easy, but cool things happen. I like to keep some slivers of the red showing through.
ReplyDeleteKarin.. I always enjoy your work!!
ReplyDeleteYou're right; very cool indeed. Love the repetition of form w/ his head and the glasses.
ReplyDeleteYour work is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKind regards,
Chris
Yes, your paintings are remarkable. And cool. But what I love are all the magic moments that you see. Painting is all about the seeing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Your paintings remind me of those of Edward Hopper, and this in particular.
