A Thing of Beauty

Okay ..... before I sign off one more time .... I was cleaning up my studio this afternoon and stepped outside and saw this fabulous Red-Tailed Hawk perched on my lilac tree. What a thing of beauty.

And since my studio was straightened up, I'd show you all where I work and paint all day. The bed in the far right is for my dog, of course.

Something you might enjoy - I'm running a year-end challenge on my Different Strokes From Different Folks blog - 180 artists from all over the world have swapped portraits, each unknown to the other. They're not all in yet, but I have a couple of YouTube videos of the first that have come in. Click here for Part 1 and click here for Part 2 - and don't forget to turn up the volume.

Happy Holidays to All

  1. The hawk in a lilac tree is a double Christmas present! We have a family of Red Tail Hawks living in the woods behind our house but we rarely get a good look at them. And our lilac gave up the ghost last winter - too much ice. I'm envious on both counts.

Carpeted studio? My my my! :-) My dogs are tough - they have to sleep on the (uncarpeted) floor!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
(Thank you, Karin for all that you do.)

  2. What an awesome studio, Karin. Love those windows (my favorite part of any home). My husband and I notice all of the hawks that are in our area as well. They are stunning birds, aren't they?

  7. Aha, Karin...I was thinking I was the only artist with a doggy bed in the studio. Really enjoyed DSFDF this year...and this year end challenge. I gave ya "a big sweetie" review on my blog. :-) The photo of the red-tail hawk is marvelous...as a wildlife painter, I'm reaching for my brushes now. I'm still looking for some more wildlife in DSFDF...my "Alabama Cow" is getting lonesome. Happy Holidays!!!

  10. WOW!..... BRAVO everyone!
Karin, I haven't participated in a "challenge" for quite awhile... and this is one I regret not doing.
    Every single one is magnificent!

I love how so much personality shows through the art, when just going by a photo. Though, maybe everyone is really getting to know each other through this blog, and each is portraying what they know of the other....I recognized many of you, and I wish you all a rewardingly, fun creative year to follow!
