Our Petey

Our sweet Petey passed away today. He was a great companion, so smart, so eager to please and always kept me company while I painted. He had a good life.

    Sorry for your loss. One of our two beloved dogs died three years ago. It was very hard. This past August we became a two dog home again. Our thoughts are with you. Petey looked like a charmer.

    I am so sorry for your loss- I have been thinking of you and knew that Petey was not doing well. I am in tears for you and my heart is still so sad over my recent loss of Maggie- I can only hope that they are up in heaven playing and not hurting anymore.     All of us who have suffered loss of dear pets, truly Karin, our hearts go out to you. As you said, he lived a great life. Dr. Seuss said, "Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened." This quote helped me get through some of those losses and I'm certain he was glad he was in your company all that time as well.

    and isn't this where it all started............a tribute to a dog's passing several years ago that started your blog, started all of us paying attention to you.............

    what a gorgeous tribute to Petey, a portrait by Karin.

    I have an oil painting of our two wondrous dogs that a friend was kind enough to do. I still tear up when I think about them. There's no more wonderful thing than the love we give and get from our puppies.

    I went through the same thing on Feb 24, 2010.
    My little painting partner left a huge hole, but a little at a time, it's filling up with heartwarming memories. Memories can last forever.

    There is SO much grief when you lose a pet that you love. You don't realize how much you rely on their companionship and devotion, and just 'being there' with you to keep you company... They don't ask for much, and yet they give so unselfishly of their dedication to those they love... Bye to Petey, a very loved little guy !!

    Karin - I'm so sorry to hear about Petey's passing. All artists with a faithful and omnipresent pet will know how big the hole feels right now.

    No dog can replace Petey - but equally no dog lover can be without a dog (or dogs!). I'm sure he'll give you a nudge when it comes time to choose.
