Hello to all who check back on a regular basis - the last couple of weeks have been full steam ahead with finishing up the work for my show in March - including varnishing and framing. I'm happy to report I'll be delivering all the paintings this weekend to the new location of the Morris & Whiteside Galleries - I'm excited to see it. The paintings will be posted on my website and the gallery's next week - in addition, I've created a movie of the show pieces that will be posted on YouTube. I'll be sure to let you know when all that is up and on the web.
I had a little bit of wet paint left on my palette and felt it was time for a moment of Zen. And I have to say I thought I had painted everything on the planet, but I have never painted a boat. This was from a trip I took back in November, to Charleston - a view from the water's edge next to Battery Park, as evening was setting.

Hi Karen
ReplyDeleteAs a sailor and a painter, I would like to say, "nicely done!" Boats are one of those subjects that have to be right, and this looks right. Good luck with the show. My sister lives in Atlanta, so first chance I get, I must see your work in person.

Another beauty!!
ReplyDeleteLove the brushwork and the light!
this is a little joy to look at Karin. Just love that singing purple on the shade side of the sail.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sailboat, Karin - lovely mood.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I love your brush work, always so fresh and loose.
ReplyDeleteKarin,
ReplyDeleteI love your work. Confident, purposeful brush strokes are what I want to emulate in my own art. Great work!
Another amazing painting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting!
ReplyDeleteStunning! I would imagine that sails are as tricky as flower petals--translucent, curvy--this is just perfect. Can't wait to see the YouTube video.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at your description for this piece;
ReplyDelete"I had a little bit of wet paint left on my palette..." - some throw away paint... and then you produce this!
The ease with which you approach and execute your art is enviable.
This makes sailing look like fun.
ReplyDeleteExcellent performance pictorial!!!
ReplyDeleteOttima esecuzione pittorica!!!
Good heavens, I am scratching my head. I believe you are in the Atlanta area, too, right? Maybe there is something in our water. Today I was needing a moment of Zen myself, and like you painted water as well. Hmmmm. Anyway, love your painting, love Charleston, grew up south of there on the coast. Glad you are getting things done.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Wow.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Say Hi to Ben and Lyn. I know then from Bluffton. I used to give Lyn riding lessons. I love your work. Thanks. Amy
