Care to spend some of your Saturday evening thinking about a title for this painting? I could use some suggestions. I just can't nail it. There's the enormous bag the woman's carrying - the flowery, long dress - the bare back - the painting of the woman reading seemingly looking right back at her. Lots to consider. Thank you, I appreciate the input.
I thank all of you for your clever ideas for a title - the one that feels right, to me, is "Back Atcha", suggested by Claire M.

Hi Karin,
ReplyDeleteHow about; "Looking over your shoulder".
Could be from the viewer behind the model looking at the painting on the wall, or if that painting had eyes...the model in the wall painting would be looking at you!
It's gorgeous BTW. The dress could have turned out to be a mess...but it is just the opposite.
"Gilded Lilies"?
ReplyDelete"The Minute They Turn Their Back on You" or something like that.

"Here's Looking at you, kid"
ReplyDelete"Exposé"?
ReplyDeleteI'd call it "Where did you get your dress" because the person in the painting looks like they are looking up noticing the person looking at them, and if it were me in the painting that would be the first question I would ask! Betsy Wills Nashville
ReplyDeleteWell to me it looks vaguely like the Woman in the painting on the wall is using a laptop. I guess it's more likely to be a mirror,I don't suppose they had Laptops when Manet was around. :) So given the title on this one is a bit up in the air. How about "The Laptop of the Gods" ? :)

ReplyDeleteDid I Ever Know You?
Since it is in front of a French impressionist painting, why not translate the title in French. "Robe-soleil fleurée" (Floral summer dress).
ReplyDeleteps- French is my first language BTW
"A Shared Moment"?
ReplyDeleteI have no good suggestions, but that huge bag stands out to me - maybe she's taking a trip of the imagination? Maybe she is looking to be inspired and lighten her load? Not very helpful, but I enjoy your blog and paintings very much.
ReplyDeleteHow about "Bare Blossoms"?
ReplyDeleteHi Karin, How about "I was lookin' back to see...."
ReplyDelete"Old Bags"
Really, I think you will come with a great title. We are all have pretty lame ideas. :)
