Well, before I became a paintaholic I did a lot of gardening. My boots are proof. This subject is also the current challenge on my Different Strokes From Different Folks blog.

Karin, you can make even an old pair of boots look warm and inviting. I'm still looking at the brushstrokes on the toes, trying to figure out how those simple strokes created such complex texture. Close up, it's paint. Far away, it's worn leather. That's my favorite kind of magic.

Karin...I just got my American artist Mag in the mail....wonderful to see your work on the cover and an excellent article about you inside! Congratulations and bravo!

Karin I hope you're still gardening a lot or do you still have time? :) Beautiful rendition! I do wonder if artists who paint a piece that looks cropped, drew it in cropped looking. I ask because when I scan my big pieces I see some (more) interesting compositions than what I'm scanning because of the irregular cropping.

Congrats on American Artist!

IN response to Erika: Erika, I have really never painted from a photograph before, but there is something about Karin's photos that make me want to look even closer and I like painting small, hence the cropping on my pieces. I do have great fun though taking my small works that I scan and then blowing them up much larger. Gosh I love the detail that comes through. jb

Great boots Karin. As usual your work shines.
I am curious with Erika about your composition or cropping. You do have a knack for doing a great job with that.
