"Three White Guys"

6 x 6"

I relish the appearance of pumpkins - it means summer is over. The end of my constant bitching about how hot it is. So here is my ode to autumn - three miniature, white pumpkins.

You must take a look at the 82 versions of Week 3's challenge on my Different Strokes From Different Folks Blog - I am stunned that so many artists are participating and I thank you all. The truth is we all need inspiration. And motivation. If you're interested in Week 4's challenge, the reference photo is here.

LOL I love the title! I didn't know there were white pumpkins until last year - where have I been?

Ah I see you did some switcharoo on your piece. It's always a puzzle how I might contribute to your challenge. I'm enjoying it so much Karin - thanks! - Erika

Wanted to say how much I am enjoying looking at your art you have posted here. Such wonderful subjects, and I love the wide brush strokes. I am going to attempt to participate in your weekly challenge this week.

Also wanted to offer my condolences in the passing of your pets Jack and Willy. I now know how hard it is as I had to have our 9 year old family cat, Tiger, put to sleep this past Friday. Extremely hard decision! Rough weekend, but getting better.

My best to you.

It is that time of year again? Could you paint a bag of candy please? Just to get me in the mood of going house to house.

Love your pumpkins! And the copper start...
I'm often forgetting what wonderful under tones you can get by starting with a colored surface. I use to start everything on a Burnt Sienna wash, now it just the white lately...got a few in Diox Purple I'm excited to try. With my usually subtle palette I thought it might be interesting to see what kind of sparkle shows through with that kind of color intensity behind it.
Gotta get through these deadlines, then have a little fun.

Your pumpkins are great, but... I hate the appearance of pumpkins -- it means summer is over. Soon I'll be complaining about how cold it is.

I like how they jump off that neutral background.

Fall is a reasonably pleasant season where I am down south, but I miss REAL Yankee fall, with pumpkins and cool weather.

I'm a big fan of pumpkins and fall
too. I love the luminous quality in
this and the great design. The way
you handle paint is a constant inspiration.

A gorgeous painting.

This is so tonally exquisite, I don't know how I'll follow this.
I was inspired by viewing your painting this morning to pick up a beautiful arrangement of gourds to use as still life.

I'm with David.....I always mourn the passing of summer when I see signs of fall. ;(
"Some like it hot......" ;D

I love looking at the weekly challenge entries and see everyone's 'take' on the subject.
You have awesome ideas, Karin!

Wonderful again to see all of last week's results put together this way.
