Frequently Asked Questions

I've been meaning to add a FAQ page on my website for months, then Carol Marine mentioned that she was doing the same - just the reminder I needed. In the course of a day, I find myself spending too much time on responding to emails and not enough painting - and don't get me wrong, I appreciate the questions and comments - but I do address the same issues over and over again. Please feel free to email me with any Q&A you would like to see, in addition to the basics.
You can find that page by clicking here or using the FAQ link in the right column.

First of all I want to agree with absolutely everyone...your work is stunning. And I love the fact that you work in a way that was absolutely taboo in art school (though I tend to do it, too) - basically completing each section as you go (I watched the YouTube video of the Street Scene painting that you did). I hope you don't mind that I added you as a link on my blog - you are an inspiration. I have three questions, please only answer if you feel led:
1. What do you use to lay out your original sketch on the masonite?
2. You have amazing control over your brush - what size of brush do you use on the small pieces (ie. 6x6)?
3. Do you add much medium to your paint as you work?

Yay! Thanks for writing the faq. You were kind enough to respond to my questions a year or so ago, and I was very grateful for that. I bet the faq will save you a lot of precious painting time now. Love the video too! Amazing!

Thanks for the FAQ! As always you are such an inspiration. If you decide to teach in Florida the Beach Art Center would love to host one, just let me know when. Thanks again for sharing so much with all your "Fan Club".

To answer Veronica's questions -
Sometimes I sketch out the shapes with a light colored pencil and the other times I go straight to painting. I use 1/2 wide brushes mostly. I add medium when my instincts say so. If the paint feels like cold butter on cold toast, I use medium.

I've been introduced to your work through Carol Marine.(call me a second-generation daily painter) I can only say I'm completely taken it. Thank you for all your shared thoughts, for the great FAQS and I particularly loved the videos.
Next goal...watch you paint in person. Your work truly speaks to me. Absolutely cherish the gallery series.
