I have this tendency to zero in on people - I can't get enough of painting someone's clothing or the light on their hair. Even when I'm taking photographs, I forget to back up and get a broader view. So this new painting is different that way. And getting a large area inside of a 6 inch square is challenging, even more so. The guide and her patrons were inside the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco.

I'm intrigued by what size brushes you use for these smaller ones. Care to share? (This is a brush phobic person speaking - I'd like to believe that one day I will pick up a brush again!)
please - please don't be afraid of brushes. just go get a handful of inexpensive ones and get to painting. i buy a brand 'american painter', really cheap and they hold up better than any pricey ones. i promise. i use the flat, soft-hair shapes, around 3/8" wide. katherine, i promise, there's nothing to worry about. do it.
I really like your style, Karin. It's very nice! And these "museum" pieces are quite intriguing. The idea of the artwork being watched while the watcher becomes the artwork is pretty cool. I just wonder if anyone ever asked you to put your camera away..? I've been in museums where no cameras were allowed.
i wouldn't use my camera where they weren't allowed. i usually check the policies before i set out. quite a lot of museums allow cameras with certain restrictions attached. luckily, they're some of my favorite museums.
